چکیده
s, titles and keywords were analysed by VOSviewer using default parameters. All common terms like study, baseline, control group, trend, method were excluded from the analysis. Three maps were induced (1) clustered landscapes presenting popularity of terms (more popular terms are presented in larger squares), associations between terms (terms locted near each other are stongly associated) and related term clusters (terms colured with the same colour), (2) timeline landscape presenting the evolution of terms based on the average publishing year of publications in which the term appeared and (3) the auhtors keyword co – ocuurence network presenting which keyords appeared in the same publication (keywords linked together), popularity of a keyord (more popular keywords are presented with larger circles) and citation rate of a keyord based on the average number of citation in which the keyword appeared.

Investigating the Role of Code Smells in Preventive Maintenance
The quest for improving the software quality has given rise to various studies which focus on the enhancement of the quality of software through various processes. Code smells, which are indicators of the software quality have not been put to an extensive study for as to determine their role in the prediction of defects in the software. This study aims to investigate the role of code smells in ...
متن کاملTo what extent can maintenance problems be predicted by code smell detection? - An empirical study
Context: Code smells are indicators of poor coding and design choices that can cause problems during software maintenance and evolution. Objective: This study is aimed at a detailed investigation to which extent problems in maintenance projects can be predicted by the detection of currently known code smells. Method: A multiple case study was conducted, in which the problems faced by six develo...
متن کاملAssessing the Capability of Code Smells to Support Software Maintainability Assessments: Empirical Inquiry and Methodological Approach
Code smells are indicators of software design shortcomings that can decrease software maintainability. An advantage of code smells over traditional software measures is that the former are associated with an explicit set of refactoring strategies to improve the existing design. As such, code smell analysis is a promising approach to address both the assessment and the improvement of maintainabi...
متن کاملSoftware Refactoring with Appropriate Resolution Order of Code Smells
Code smells are structured characteristics of software that may indicate a code or design problem. It makes a software hard to evolve and maintain and may trigger refactoring of code.It have a different types of code smells, refactoring tools, but it doesn’t know the sequence of code smells to be resolved first.Identifying and detecting the code smells are performed rarely because all types in the...
متن کاملCode smells as system-level indicators of maintainability: An empirical study
Code smells are manifestations of design flaws that can degrade code maintainability if left to fester. The research in this paper investigates the potential of code smells to reflect system-level indicators of maintainability. We report a study where the strengths and limitations of code smells are evaluated against existing evaluation approaches. We evaluated four medium-sized Java systems us...
متن کاملA Taxonomy and an Initial Empirical Study of Bad Smells in Code
This paper presents research in progress, as well as tentative findings related to the empirical study of so called bad code smells. We present a taxonomy that categorizes similar bad smells. We believe the taxonomy makes the smells more understandable and recognizes the relationships between smells. Additionally, we present our initial findings from an empirical study of the use of the smells ...
